Pakistan Democracy Index 2019 fall at 108 Position


Pakistan improving position in democracy index and place at position 108th with a score of 4.25. As of 2019 Democracy Index’s global ranking Pakistan’s overall score increase from 4.17 in 2018 to 4.25 in the Index that provides a clear improvement. This is under the ruling party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), which is led by Imran Khan.

The index is based on 5 categorizations electoral process and pluralism, the functioning of government, Political partici­pation, Political Culture, and civil liberties. The score for these categories is given below.

Electoral process and pluralism: 6.08

Functioning of government: 5.71

Political partici­pation: 2.00

Political culture: 2.50

Civil liberties: 4.71

The Pakistan score is increase by 0.08 and the rank by 4 which tells that we fall in Hybrid regime.

Meanwhile, India was ranked 51st on the overall list with a score of 6.90 while Norway was top of the list with score of 9.87 and has been classified as a full democracy.

North Korea was at 167th position in global ranking.
